Mauchline - Catrine Branch Line
The Mauchline to Catrine Branch Line was one of the last railway lines to be
constructed in Scotland. The Manson Rail Motor was designed for branch lines,
but early enthusiasm was dampened as it lacked suspension needed for a comfortable
journey.
The line opened for passenger traffic in 1903, and closed in 1943.
