Mr. Robert W. Hunter, whose portrait is here presented, was born in the parish of Sorn, and is one of the best known businessmen in the commercial capital of Ayrshire. Recently he became sole partner of the firm of Dale & Hunter, Drapers and Clothiers, King Street, Kilmarnock, a business, which he and Mr. Dale established in the year 1878. The firm's premises, which were formerly occupied as the General Post Office, comprise a handsome double-fronted building of three storeys. On the ground floor is a spacious and wellappointed shop with an exceptionally fine plate-glass frontage of fully forty feet; the interior, which extends back over eighty feet, is fitted up in a very superior style; the fixtures are at once elegant and substantial, and the appointments and decorations are elaborate, yet in good taste and in excellent keeping with the high tone of the establishment, to meet the extensive and varied requirements of the trade. Messrs Dale & Hunter hold a very large and comprehensive stock, which is replete with all the best features of the various lines engaged in, and thoroughly representative of the business in all its branches. The whole of the goods are selected from the best sources with great care and sound judgment, and buying as they do in such large lines direct from the manufacturers, Messrs. Dale & Hunter are in a position to give exceptional advantages both in quality and price In the various departments Messrs. Dale & Hunter are assisted by competent hands, whose work can he guaranteed with perfect confidence, and the steadily increasing trade of the firm is the best evidence that patrons of the establishment obtain the highest satisfaction with their purchases. The business being under the personal super vision of Mr. Hunter, every attention is paid to the wants of customers, and all orders are fulfilled with the utmost promptitude.- (Adapted from "Scotland of To-day.")
