Stepends and "The Pottery"

A then and now photo of Stepends, which was the laundry for Gilmilnscroft at
one time. The laundry was the right hand section of the building, while the
dwelling house was the centre part. The left hand section was a meeting room.
Notice how close the river is to the road in the old version, compared to the
1998 photo. The Wheelhouse can be seen in the background of the old image.

Farther up the road the house of Holmhead is to be seen, current home of
Calum Allen. This was for years home to Mrs Allen and Nan Barr, her sister,
pictured on the right with the pup.

Left: A rather old view of "The Pottery". The building at this time was three
dwelling houses. The right hand section has long been demolished.
Right: The Wither family who made the fiddles for seed sowing at the pottery.
Left to right Archie, Unid (worker?), Wullie, Father, Mother.
