Below are two letters from John Farquhar Gray of Gilmilnscroft which I fell in with in 2010.

I am unsure how collectable these original old letters from 1809 may be. Bear in mind that John Farquhar Gray was in some history books the JP charged with performing the marriage of Robert Burns to Jean Armour. Perhaps it is only letters by Burns himself that are collectable.

Letter one is dated August 1809, while the second letter is dated September 1809. Both are addressed to Thomas Adams of Alnwick, Northumberland. He was some writer!! How the postal service of the day managed.....

1809 was the year his wife died, see Robertsons Family history book, 1823.
