Sorn Uphill Motorcycle Time Trials
These time trials were held between the bridge
at the foot of Dalgain Brae, and the finishing line, which was between the road
into holehousehillhead, and the left turn towards Brocklar. (At the top of the
hill). This event took place in the 1920s, and even then speeds of around 100mph
were reputed to be reached. A Mr Porter holds the time record to date on his
new Gerard v twin bike. Entries were from all around. They would race at the
weekends, but sometimes mid week the enthusiasts would test their machines they
had been working on, to try and improve performance. The record was around 16
seconds.
