Mauchline
is perhaps best known world wide for being the former home of Robert Burns,
and each year attracts enthusiasts from all over the world. In 2002, Mauchline
Burns Club unveiled the world's first statue to his wife, Jean Armour.
The village gives it's name to Mauchline Ware. Smith's boxworks was a
major employer in the village for many years. Mauchline also boasts the
only working curlingstone factory in the country. This site attempts to archive old photographs and memories of the Mauchline area, as a permanent record of life in a rural Ayrshire village. Share a Memory - If you can help add to this extensive archive, e mail the details. Additions are always welcome. |
