Loudoun Street from Poosie Nansie's, looking towards The Loudoun Arms, and the use of the gable of the cooperative for advertising can clearly be seen. In the centre of the image, is the archway into the Abbey Church, and beyond small single storey houses, which later were rebuilt into the large sandstone block we know today as The Jean Armour, and Geordie's Video Shop!! The Burns plaque which today is roughly above where the large sunlight soap board is, can be seen on the chimney of the building which at that time was Mauchline Cooperative.

The plaque today can be difficult to read due to the wear, never mind if it had been on the chimney, as is seen high above street level.

This is the building upon whose site the Whitefoord Arms stood in Burns' time, until 'destruction' 1866. It is uncertain whether the building was deliberately demolished and rebuilt, or whether perhaps there was a fire.
