An exceptional view of Gavin Hamilton's House, and old Castle
just behind the tree on the left. This view also includes the missing spire
on the kirk. At first glance in may look like the spire has been repaired, but
if the image is magnified, it is obvious the photographer has scratched a little
piece of the negative out to try and give the effect of a repaired kirk. The
next image shows the unfortunate result. The photographer was John Taylor Gibb.
The building within the grounds of The Castle is known as The Old Bakehouse,
but this photograph was taken before that was built.
