Muirkirk
home to many of the covenanters of Ayrshire, was at one time a hive
of industry. The town boasted it's ironworks, coal mines, and rail
connections. The evidence of the industrial past can be found on
many of Muirkirk's sign posted walks in the surrounding countryside.
