Mauchline Cooperative Grocery Department is seen here beside the Jolly Beggar's. The thatch is all the way down to the edge of the roof, dating this image between 1888 (date of the building at the back of Poosie's) and 1910 (when the lower few feet of the roof was slated and a gutter added). The shop in the lean to in the front of the inn has not yet been opened.
