Loudoun Street, the part of which at one time was called New Street, taken some time before the large building was built next to what is today the paper shop. This image was taken from a small piece of Mauchlineware, spotted during a tour of Mauchline Castle. It is the only image available of the street without the large sandstone block which appears on the images below. The high res image takes you to the so called Mauchline Slideshow of higher res images. |

Left: The last house to have the thatch in Loudoun Street, number 77. The people at the door are McHoul, grandparents of Mrs Irving, who had the original photo. On the right is Mrs Irving's mother, maiden name McHoul, who died in 1969, aged 93, and was a Mrs Watson by that time. (Notes on the back of Nancy's photocopy quality copies, used during an exhibition in Mauchline, in the days before scanners and computers. 1980's??) |
