Farther to the left, still a sample of slideshow page 025, we can see the newsagent G.Patrick, whose shop must be one door up from Poosie Nansie's. The wee shop which is in front of Poosie's in other images, seems to be no more that a storage shed at this time. The larger buildings beyond Poosie Nansie's have changed remarkably little and even the small bricked up window on the gable facing the camera can still be seen today. Even in the oldest image of this area of the village which dates to around 1870, the window is bricked up. Did it ever exist as a window, or were the builders using any old material they had to hand when the building was put up. Was it bricked up in Burns' time? We can only wonder. You can almost imagine that the rougher looking stonework below the so called window, has been part of a lower single storey house in days of old??
