Photo Willie Lyle
Taken from the John Taylor Gibb collection, although the image must have been
taken by Mr Ballantine, as JTG was born in 1864. The oldest image of Poosie
Nansie's taken from page 27 of JTG book. The date
would be in the 1870s. A guess would be based on the difference in the house
at the back of the building, built as a single storey with attic. By 1880, the
building was converted into a storage shed. In this early image, there is no
writing on the side of the building. Because of the need for a slow shutter
speed in early cameras, the "ghost" effect can be seen, caused by
people not standing at peace!!
