Photo Willie Lyle - Mauchline

This shot is a sample of the full plate from slideshow043.html. It is only in these few images we can see anything of the building at the right somewhere in the background. We have not come across any photos specifically of this building. On the site today stands the Chinese take away and a General Store. According to the late Willie Lyle, the block may have been called something Place, but as yet no-one has come up with a name, or even a suggestion of a name. In Mauchline there was a Hamilton Place, Albert Place, Wilson Place, Nisbet Place, and Jamieson Place. The Jamieson Place name is still visible on the plaque on the front of the sandstone block on the Sorn Road, and Nisbet Place can still be seen on the block in the Tanfield.
