A
view of The Loudoun Arms Hotel, looking East. The image shows The
Loudoun as only the left part of the block. The centre of the building
was separate, and may have at one time been known as The Star Inn.
Today the pub takes up the whole block, and the white building, known
as Number 1 Loudoun Street, has been demolished to make way for the
car park and toilets. The
Bairds lived at number 1 Loudoun Street for some time in the earlier
part of the 1900s, giving name to the lane running along the other
side of Number 1, Bairds Lane. The archway on the left into Netherplace Estate is still there today, and is dated 1873. The date is on the centre on the arch facing Netherplace.(opposite side from one shown here)
