AILSA CRAIG INDEX

Most people in Ayrshire will recognise the view of Ailsa Craig, seen from Girvan shore. The first four images are taken from Girvan beach, after coming ashore. For many years I have looked at the advertising signs in and around the harbour area for the boat trips to Ailsa Craig. After all these years talking about going, I finally made it in August 2009. Everyone had a wonderful day, and some of the party climbed to the top of the hill and took in the breathtaking views from the summit. There was a slight haze, but a massive improvement from the earlier views in the morning heading to the Island, when the top of the hill was covered in cloud. Luckily this cleared just as we landed.

There were so many stunning views of the island's silhouette taken on the way back to Girvan, I have included almost all. High res Images are 1280 by 960 so should produce a decent quality full screen shot for most users. Remember some versions of Internet Explorer resize high res images to fit screen by default. There is a brown square box eventually pops up on the bottom right on the photo, to increase the size. This is yet another silly unwanted auto function, but can be disabled easily in the options.

(Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Multimedia - untick "enable automatic image resizing")

In FIREFOX and more up to date IE, this picture "fit screen" is changed by a simple mouse click.
